The Dumbing-Down of America

I just walked into a restaurant to pick up an order. 25% of the tables were filled. No one wearing a mask, because, common sense dictates, they have to eat without their mask.
One waitress with a mask on, the other without.
The one wearing a mask looks at me and said, “Can you put your mask on please?”
I looked around at everyone and looked back at her and said, “Really?”
The one without the mask said, “I know, silly right?”
I said I’ll wait outside the door, at the tables where no one was sitting.
Thinking, “How foolish, just because we open up, our politicians and a part of the population believe businesses aren’t going to continue to close up permanently when running at less than 50% capacity?”
I’m not going out much anymore. I’m done with the silliness and stupidity over a virus with a 99.9% survival rate.
I don’t get as mad as I do sad now.
I knew this country was in trouble with the last 30-40 years of political correctness, but the censorship, the governmental control of who can work and what businesses can run at full capacity or not, doctors and nurses afraid to speak up for fear of being reported to state boards, employed afraid to speak up for fear of termination, people in general who are afraid to not wear masks or they will be reported.
Worse, a young generation that will reap what their parents have sown. We won’t pay the horrific price. They will.
This is no longer the dumbing down of America.
This is a country that’s brain-dead and living on life support.
